Hey…Nice Tetons!

The first thing that you see when you enter Teton Valley are the Grand Tetons. Their spires rise up from the valley floor and are ever present no matter where you are in the valley. I can sit and look at them in amazement for hours!

The first morning after our arrival was an early one as the light for photography is best at sunrise. Our first stop was Mormon Row and the TA Moulton barn. This is probably the most photographed spot in the Tetons and it didn’t disappoint.

When traveling to our next spot we had an unexpected surprise, a bull moose sighting. I quickly found a place to pull over and jumped into the back of my truck for a better vantage point. What a treat!

Our next stop was Schwabacher Landing where, on a calm day, you can capture reflections of the Tetons in the pools of water. Even better with my favorite subject in the foreground.

We then headed over to Jenny Lake to scout it out as we planned to take the boat across the lake and hike to Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point the next day. The one thing we learned is get there before 9:30am or you’ll be walking an extra half mile from overflow parking just to get to the lake.

The next morning we arrived early and took the shuttle across Jenny Lake which was amazing with the Tetons rising up from the shores of the lake. The hike up into Jackson Canyon to Hidden falls was beautiful and the weather was cool and crisp. The hike from the falls to Inspiration Point was pretty steep and had some narrow passages along the cliffs which Becky chose to wait for me on. I did spot a couple mule deer hiding in the trees along the way.

All in all it was a wonderful morning which we capped of at Dornan’s for balcony views of the Tetons, cold craft beer, and a pizza. Not a bad way to spend a few hours.

The following day we went for a bike ride along the Teton trail which starts in Jackson and winds it’s way all the way up through the Tetons NP. We chose to take a 16 mile loop Biking Teton Loop which took us to Jenny Lake and Dornan’s, when we concluded our ride with…you guessed it, more cold beer, great views, and a salad and sandwich.

We spent the rest of the afternoon exploring Jackson where we walked the square and visited the million Dollar Bar.

Next we start the trek south so we can slowly acclimate to the hotter weather we expect back in Phoenix. Ugh!
